In January 2010, Miles' novel 'A Song For Nicky Moon' was longlisted for The Times / Chicken House children's novel competition.

- Working as writing tutor for the Hull Children's Book Awards.
- Winning first prize in the 2008 Slipstream Poets Competition.
- Presenting "More Raw" for BBC Radio York (2 shows in March 2008)

Miles also provides writing workshops to schools in Yorkshire. One comment from a school in York was : "The children were so inspired they didn't want to put their pens down."
