This is the official site for freelance writer Miles Salter.

The site contains details of Miles' work as a freelance journalist, poet, storyteller and creative writing tutor. His freelance journalism has appeared in The Sunday Times, Daily Telegraph, The Independent, Yorkshire Post, Northern Echo, The Big Issue In The North, Third Way, Church Times, The Grocer, Socialist Worker, Collect It ! and others. He has also conducted research and interview work for BBC Radio 4.
Miles' poetry has been printed in magazines like Dreamcatcher and Aesthetica.

Recent credits in 2007 and 2008 have included :
  • Organising the 2008 York Literature Festival on behalf of Read Write York.
  • Writing features for Grand Central Trains Magazine.
  • Working as writing tutor for the Hull Children's Book Awards.
  • Winning first prize in the 2008 Slipstream Poets Competition.
  • Presenting "More Raw" for BBC Radio York (2 shows in March 2008)
  • Writing and presenting 'Next Week's News' for BBC Radio York.
  • Writing for The Talk magazine - news, reviews and features.
  • Contributing writer, the Northern Echo. 
  • Helping to lead media workshops for teenagers in York, August 2008.

Miles also provides writing workshops to schools in Yorkshire. One comment from a school in York in 2005 was :

"The children were so inspired they didn't want to put their pens down."

Melissa Brolls of the Hull NHS Arts and Health Team said of Miles' contribution :

The project offers participants a range of new creative and social experiences which can, in turn, lead to raised self esteem, confidence and social skills as well as new interests and skills.”
